William Lee Mott, born on November 15, 1938, in rural Walton Township, passed away on July 24, 2025, in Battle Creek at the age of 86 years old. He was a devoted member of his family and community, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Education was important to him; he graduated from Olivet High School with the class of 1958 and enjoyed attending class reunions.
William worked for Aluminum Extrusions in Charlotte for 26 years. After retiring, he found joy in maintaining and driving the tour train at Binder Park Zoo, sharing his passion for the outdoors with visitors.
Family gatherings were particularly special for William, especially those at the family cabin in Wellston. He loved spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed adventurous trips out west with his hunting buddies in search of antelope and mule deer. His interests reflected his love for the natural world and the camaraderie of family and friends. William was also a proud member of Moose Lodge #676, where he participated in traveling with the ritual team.
William spent the last year of his life at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility in Battle Creek where he was deeply loved and appreciated by his fellow residents, care-givers, and staff. His interest in others and his influence on them will leave a long-lasting impact on his friends and family, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia (Dan) Fuller; son, Dusty (Jaime) Mott; grandchildren Jeremy (Kelli) Fuller, Jaime (Jason) Thompson, Dennis (Jeannine) Mott, Maddison Hunsicker, Ian Sullivan; nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Larry (Jan) Mott, and sister, Marie Collins; his special friend, Charlene Warner and her family; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen Mott; his wife, Ilene, who passed away in 2009; his great granddaughter, Oakley Fuller; and brother-in-law, Ronald Collins.

A celebration of William’s life will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Lee Township Hall, 23045 21 Mile Rd., Olivet, MI 49076 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
