Suzanne Kay Hess

Suzanne Kay “Suzie” Hess, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 14, 2026. She was born on August 19, 1944, to Gloria and Glenn Loveless and was the oldest of six siblings, who lovingly referred to themselves as the “Dark Side vs. Light Side.” This playful family joke became a special bond between the siblings and remained a cherished part of their family story throughout the years.

Suzie graduated from Olivet High School, where she was a majorette, and later graduated from Kellogg Community College as a licensed LPN. She worked as a nurse at Provincial House and Marshall Manor before moving to Florida, where she made many wonderful friends and proudly ran her own cleaning service.

Suzie loved her family dearly. She was the mother of Christopher Hess, who preceded her in death in December 2025, Curt Hess (Julie Dawson), and Angela Hess (Noah Dewyse). She was also a proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and great-grandmother of twelve great-grandbabies.

She loved the beach, fishing from piers and boats, and searching for seashells, shark teeth, and little critters along the shore. She hated being cold and loved being warm. Near the end of her life, you could often find Suzie with her beloved Lay’s potato chips and a Vernors in hand.

Suzie was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia, but the disease could never take away the love and memories she gave to those around her. Anyone who knew Suzie would describe her as one of a kind—sweet, empathetic, caring, loving, and full of life.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Suzie will forever live on in the hearts of the people she loved and the generations of family she leaves behind.
