Steven “Steve” Richard Siler departed this world peacefully on August 20, 2020 after a lengthy battle with colon cancer. Steve was born on September 27, 1967, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to Richard (Rick) and Cathy (Hoag) Siler. Steve lived much of his youth in South Haven, Michigan where he earned the distinction of Eagle Scout and graduated from high school. He then went to his beloved University of Michigan to study and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and he received an MBA from Indiana University. Over the years, Steve worked for a number of companies that manufactured trucks, buses, fire trucks and finally concluding his career at Dart Container managing those who created a variety of products. Steve was a certified project manager engineer and held 3 patents. Steve was a musician playing the clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone, guitar, piano and he also wrote original songs. During his time at the University of Michigan, Steve was a 4-year member of the marching band and pep band. Some of his fondest memories were of attending bowl games and being part of performances with the band. Steve and Elizabeth met in 2003 and fell in love. He proposed to her on Kaanapali Beach in Hawaii and they married in Clear Lake, Indiana. They welcomed Joseph and Audrey into their life and they are a part of the Charlotte, Michigan community. Steve loved travel. He traveled with family, friends and alone to see 47 of the United States and parts of Canada. One of his greatest joys was sharing his love of travel with his wife and children. He loved to spend time with his children reading books, writing children’s stories, teaching his daughter piano and taking them on special adventures. He often spent evenings with them, laughing and laying on the floor while Joe and Audrey climbed all over him. Steve is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, their children, Joseph and Audrey, his mother, Cathy Siler, his brother, Ted (Justina) Siler, sisters, Carey (John Sipes) Frost, Annie (Mark) Goodrich, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
