Shirley Wachsmuth (Minica) was the sixth and youngest child born on December 9, 1959 to parents, Clarence Matt Minica and Hazel Joy Minica (Hector). Shirley spent most of her childhood in San Antonio, California, Florida, and Buffalo, NY. Shirley welcomed her first daughter, Julie Nichole Blandford, in 1978. In 1979, Shirley met the love of her life, John Wachsmuth, and the two were married in 1986 and welcomed their only son, John Charles Wachsmuth II, in 1987.

In 1989, the family relocated to Arlington, TX. In 1990, they welcomed their third and final baby girl, Jessica Pauline. Shirley had a wonderful career with Southwest Airlines and retired in 2004. She went on to work in banking and finance until her final retirement in 2021. Shirley was the guiding light for her family and friends and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Shirley is preceded in death by both of her parents; her brothers Richard Minica, William Minica, and Jimmie Minica; and her husband of 31 years, John Wachsmuth.

She is survived by her loving children, Julie Johnson (Andre) of Michigan, John Wachsmuth II of Texas, Jessica Carrillo (Josh) of Michigan; and her loving French Bulldog, Layla Kaye. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Gini Phillips (Chris), Matthew Stahlberg (Charlotte), Joye Diagiacomo (Joe) all of Florida, and Kacey Miller (Dale) of South Carolina. Shirley is also survived by her best friend of 54 years Cindy Winegardner.

Following Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal memorial services will be held.

The family is being served by the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home.
