Sherry L. Hays, age 75, of Charlotte, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, surrounded by the love of her family. She fought hard to the very end, as she always did for the people she loved.
Sherry was born February 16, 1951, in Big Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Betty Kost and Milton Ballentine.
Sherry loved spending time with friends and family just laughing and reminiscing. She enjoyed playing board games, watching movies, and listening to all her favorite music. Trips to Mackinac City with her sisters and mom were always very fond to her.
More than anything, Sherry was the heart of her family-the one who held everyone together. She had a kind and gentle spirit and a generosity that never ran out. Those who knew her often said she was simply too good and too willing to give. She was always there, whether someone needed help or just someone to talk to. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, and there was nothing she loved more than loving them and talking about them. She leaves behind a family shaped by that love and a great many friends who were lucky to be counted among her own.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Steve and Jeff; her beloved sons, Rodney and Steve; and granddaughter, Lexis.
She is survived by her sisters, Billie Jo (Bill) Scott, Cindy Colson; sons, Robbie (Ann) Biller, Bret (Danielle) Biller, Thomas (Crystal) Martin, Jason (Ashley) Hays, Dusty (Destiny) Hays; cherished grandchildren, Aaron, Blake, Britney, Miranda, Destiny, Elizabeth, Brandy, Thomas, Melodie, Rylee, Cameron, Skyler, Amelia, Xaiden, Silas; great-grandchildren, Zander, Adelyn, Avalyn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 12 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home with Pastor Pete Kroll officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at West Carmel Cemetery.
