Robert Lee Seiler was born to Frank & Eunice (Schneider) Seiler on July 29, 1932, in Fulton County, Ohio. He peacefully passed away on June 17, 2026, with his family by his side. Bob grew up as the oldest of eight children. As a boy, he farmed with his dad and brothers. He received his education at the Elmira and Archbold schools in Ohio.
Bob was converted and baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on December 23, 1945, by Minister John A. Becker. He enjoyed singing and was song leader for many years.
On November 8, 1953, he was married to our mother, Ivy Litwiller of Ithaca, Michigan. They spent their first year at the Pettisville Congregation, before going to Baltimore, Maryland for their 1-W Service, eventually settling on the family farm in Gratiot County, Michigan. They were blessed with five children. In February of 1977, Dad and our family suffered a great loss when our brother, Den, drowned in Brazil while visiting family.
Dad was a lifelong farmer and dairy man. He was a hard worker and enjoyed the challenges and rewards that farming brought. He was intrigued with new innovations in farming and found satisfaction in trying new things. He used every opportunity to teach us good work ethics and personal responsibility. After almost 68 years of marriage, Mom passed away in July of 2021, leaving Dad very lonely. Approximately five months later, when Maple View Retirement Community opened, he moved in so he could continue living comfortably. In his later years he could be seen on his tractor, mowing roadsides, or driving through the community in his pickup, observing the activity.
Left with precious memories are their children, Connie of Ithaca, Marlene and LeeRoy Toews of Hardin, Montana, Mona and Adam Reiff of Muir, Mervin and Teresa of Ithaca; 20 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Seiler and Darlene Seiler of Ithaca, Wanda and Tim Unruh of Othello, Washington; brothers, Merle and Tootie Seiler of Archbold, Ohio, Frank Seiler, Mick and Cynthia Seiler of Ithaca; sisters-in-law, Erla and Alvin Schneider, Susan Litwiller both of Michigan, Joan Litwiller of Hillsboro, Kansas; brothers-in-law; Ardis Litwiller, Galen and Evie Litwiller, Joe Krezan all of Michigan; also, special friends of the family, Kristin & Keith Davenport and their daughters, Lydia and Ivy.
