Robert Charles Holtz, age 82, born on September 28th, 1943, at home in Portland, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on May 9th, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

Robert, also known as “Skip” to family and friends, graduated from Portland High School. He went on to build a career in skilled trades at Oldsmobile/General Motors. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed the sense of accomplishment that came from his work ethic. On February 19th, 1972, he married Melissa Parish in Charlotte.

Skip was well known for his love of the need for speed. He found great joy in racing snowmobiles, mini-champ cars, and drag racing. Watching and attending races were among his favorite pastimes. He also loved snowmobiling the trails of the Upper Peninsula with friends and family. In his younger years, he found joy in attending amusement parks with his children and friends, spending time at the pool, tinkering in the garage, or just being outdoors.

Most important to Skip was his family. He always made time to be present. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports. He also loved when the kids and grandkids would come over to play or have family dinner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and LaVina Holtz; brother-in-law, Fred Stambaugh; niece and nephew, Tammy and Robert; and grandchild, Courtney.

Skip is survived by his wife Melissa Holtz; brother Richard (Mary) Holtz; sister Jennie (Ron) Stambaugh; children Robyn (Chris) Devlin, Kevin (Allison) Holtz, Karri Wood; grandchildren Meagan Packowski and fiancé Kyle Verpooten, Taylor (Cody) Wilmath, Jake Devlin, Xavier Wood, Ashton Wood and fiancé Andrew Templin, Tyler Holtz, Riley Holtz, Max Holtz; great-grandchildren Rowan Wood, Noah Templin, and two more on the way.
