Robert Mac Granger

Robert Mac Granger, known to many as Bob, died on September 22, 2026, in Lansing, Michigan. He was born on March 7, 1946, in Vermontville, Michigan. Bob graduated from Charlotte High School in 1964. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. On July 31, 1971, he married Paula Penny Harmon in Potterville.

For many years, Bob worked for the City of Charlotte as the Superintendent of the waste water treatment facility, where he was known as a hard-working and dependable presence. After his retirement, he continued working with Country Inn and Suites and Charlotte Motor. His strong work ethic remained a defining part of his life, and he was respected by those who knew him through his years of service in the community.

Outside of work, Bob enjoyed woodworking, a pastime that reflected both his skill and patience. He was also a member of VFW Post 2406 in Charlotte. Those who knew him will remember him as a giving man who loved his family deeply, took pride in his country along with the life he built and the people he cared for.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Penny; son-in-law, Rob Sherman; brothers: Dennis Strang, Ron Granger, and Russ Granger.

He is survived by his children: Shawn Sherman of Spring Arbor, Shannon (Eric Baker) Granger of Charlotte, Brandi Granger of Lansing, Bryan (Bonnie) Granger of New Bern, North Carolina; grandchildren: Kirstine Duncan, Brandon (Aaron) Sherman, Gavin (Cassie Thornburg) Bonney, Mark (Kailynn) Granger, Anthony Granger, Ethan (Martayah) Granger; great-grandchildren: Kimbery Duncan, Peyton Duncan, Joseph Duncan, Jaxin Sherman, Quenten Sherman, Beaux Bonney, Chloe Thornburg, Axel Granger, Penny Granger, Esaias Granger; and brother, Patrick Strang.

In keeping with the families wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held in March of 2027.
