Lou Ann Boone

Lou Ann Boone, 93, passed to her heavenly home on Monday, May 25, 2026. She was born March 10, 1933, in McBain, Michigan to Percy and Geraldine (Anderson) Schepers. She was married to Wendell Boone for 49 years until his passing in January 2006.

Lou, as she liked to be called, was head librarian at the Charlotte, Michigan Public Library for 26 years. She was effective in her leadership role at the library and had the respect and friendship of all those on her staff. During those years she was also active in and around the community with the Charlotte Country Club, Chamber of Commerce, and numerous other ways she showed her support and dedication to promoting the City of Charlotte.

Lou was an active member at Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church and served in many capacities. She was willing to help when someone had a personal need, or if there was a need within the church. A woman of strong Christian faith, she led with her heart and spoke with compassion. She would want to be honored, knowing that Jesus was exalted, and God was glorified.

Following her retirement, Lou enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her cats, and traveling. She looked forward each morning to having breakfast at My Place Restaurant in Charlotte with her many friends and visiting with the restaurant staff. She also spent much of her time with her wonderful friend, Jean Forell. Jean introduced her to drawing, painting, and pottery. They enjoyed many happy hours together.

She is survived by her children, son, Scott Boone (Vicky) of Brandon, Mississippi; daughters Wendy Bishop (Rick) of Charlotte, Michigan and Teresa Halsey of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Tamela Seehase of Mason, Michigan; grandchildren, Kenneth Boone, Christina Hansen (Daniel), Erica Cicchinelli (Evan), Courtney Farmer (Tom), Jason Fox (Caitlyn), Corbin Boone (Frances), Erin Martinez (Nikohl), and 13 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Wendell Boone; son, William (Bill) Boone; sister Nancy Coates, and her parents Percy and Geraldine Schepers.

Funeral services will be held on Friday May 29, 2026, at 1 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Baribeau officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. just prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte, Michigan.
