David Patrick Rooney

David Patrick Rooney, age 62, of Charlotte, passed away on October 6, 2026, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. He was born on October 23, 1963, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Philip and Laura (Wing) Rooney.

David graduated from Charlotte High School with the Class of 1981 and went on to work at the Meijer warehouse as a fork lift driver for many years. He was known as the life of the party, always making others laugh, and was truly one of a kind. His presence brought joy to those around him, and his sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.

He enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting up north. David also loved watching sports and was an especially devoted fan of the Detroit Lions and all University of Michigan sports. At home, he had a special love for his dogs, Reedee and Flicka, who were an important part of his life.

Family and friends will remember David for his warm spirit, his laughter, and the way he made gatherings brighter simply by being there. He leaves behind many memories of good times, shared smiles, and a personality that could never be forgotten.

David is survived by his mother, Laura Rooney; brother, Philip Rooney Jr.; nephews: Jason Rooney, Michael Rooney; sister-in-law, Debra Rooney; close friend, Kathy Gilding; and many treasured long-time friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Philip; brother, Michael Rooney; sister-in-law, Jeanette Rooney. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 1 P.M. at the Burkhead-Green-Kilgo Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Jenson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery.
