Jack L. Martin of Hastings, MI, formerly of Charlotte, MI, age 84 died Friday, June 14, 2013 at his residence. Jack was born July 1, 1928 in Jackson, MI the son of Lloyd and Doris (Osman) Martin and had been a Hastings resident for 10 years coming from Charlotte. He was a 1946 Graduate of Charlotte High School, was a former 4-H Leader and had volunteered at Camp Highfields at Onondaga. He was a retired Auto Dealer having owned the Martin Motor Sales of Charlotte and was employed by the Bill Gavin Chevrolet & Pontiac of Middleville from where he retired. He had also owned the former Martin Stable raising and showing Horses and had also been involved in Stock Car building and racing. He was a member of the Charlotte Lodge #120 F & A M, was a member and officer of the Eaton County Shrine Club, was an active member of the Saladin Shrine Temple of Grand Rapids and had served on the Board of Charlotte’s Maple Hill Cemetery. Surviving are: his wife of 67 years, Venice (Parr) Martin; daughter, Sandra (David) Gilding of Charlotte; son, Jeffery W. Martin of Cadillac; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Stephanie Rand. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home of Charlotte. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held also on Tuesday from 11:00 A. M. until time of services at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Barry Community Hospice or the Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago.
